About Novoanninskiy
Novoanninsky (Russian: Новоа́ннинский) is a town and the administrative center of Novoanninsky District in Volgograd Oblast, Russia, located on the Buzuluk River (a tributary of Don's basin), 254 kilometers (158 mi) northwest of Volgograd, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: 17,912 (2010 census); 19,472 (2002 census); 20,922 (1989 Soviet census).

History
It was granted town status in 1956. Before that, it was a rural settlement. Its development accelerated after the construction of the railway line in the region, which boosted trade and communication.
